Circumcision-Where Can You Get Circumcised?

Boys are born with a hood of skin in their genital area and this is called the foreskin. The foreskin covers the head of the genital area which is also called the glans. They will surgically remove the foreskin of the genital area during circumcision. In order for the end of the genital area to be exposed they will remove the foreskin.

Studies show that in the United states, there are 65% of newborn baby boys that are being circumcised every year. Circumcision is actually done all over the world. Those parents that wants their sons to be circumcise their sons are those that are concerned about their hygiene , has religious beliefs, social reasons and has cultural reasons. Another reason is they want their son to look and be a man.

There are a number of places where circumcision can be performed such as hospitals, in houses and in religious ritual circumcisions. Routine circumcision is can be done in the first 48 hours or in the first ten days.

If you plan to have your son circumcised in the hospital then a pediatrician, obstetrician or a family doctor can do the procedure. The doctor can do the procedure before you bring your son home from the hospital. Doctors will tell you all about the procedure and any kind of risk that could happen. Newborn circumcision is actually a complicated procedure since they will need general anesthesia. Surgery and anesthesia can pose a risk to the baby. If the doctor thinks that the procedure is not yet necessary they can delay the circumcision. This is one reason why there are some parents that prefer that their son get circumcised when they are a bit bigger. Some of the reasons why doctors do not perform circumcision is when the baby has a medical condition or if the baby is premature. Doctors do not circumcise babies with physical abnormalities since the foreskin can be used for reconstructive surgery.

Below are the advantages of circumcision:

Urinary tract infections can be avoided if circumcision is done. Urinary tract infection is very common to boys that are not circumcised.
